Description: The balance between safety and restriction/quality of life is tricky for clients with anaphylactic food allergies. Fear of a reaction when the allergen is close by is common. Proximity food challenges help reduce this fear by allowing the patient to come in contact (but not ingest) their allergen(s) under close medical supervision.
Target Audience: Clients/families that are concerned about anaphylactic reactions from being close to the allergen.
Organization: Allergic Girl Resources. Sloane Miller is a social worker with a personal history of anaphylactic food allergies. She provides resources and counselling to help food allergic individuals advocate for themselves and live well.
